NEW PATIENTS
Starting here is easier than you'd expect.
Most new patients start within the week. Here is what to expect.
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST
You've found us. Here's how we begin.
You've already taken the step that matters most. The rest is on us. You reach out and tell us what's been going on, we confirm your insurance and your costs up front, and we get your first visit scheduled, usually within the week. From that first conversation, the same provider stays with you.
Your first appointment is an evaluation. It takes more time than a follow-up visit because it has to. We take a real history before making any clinical decisions.
The provider you meet at your first appointment is the provider you will see going forward. There is no rotation. You do not get handed off. If your needs change, we change with them.
THE VISIT
01
You reach out.
Call us at 214-233-5557, request an appointment online, or send us a message. Tell us a little about what you are dealing with and what insurance you carry.
02
We verify and schedule.
We contact your carrier, confirm your benefits, and tell you your copay before you book. No surprise bills. No estimates that turn out to be wrong.
03
Your first visit.
A full psychiatric evaluation by video with your provider. If this is the right fit, you leave with a working diagnosis, a clear plan, and a follow-up already on the calendar. If it isn't, we'll tell you that plainly and help you find the setting that is.
BEFORE YOUR FIRST VISIT
What to have ready.
You do not need to prepare extensively. A few things make the first visit more useful for both of us.
Current medications and doses
Including anything prescribed by other providers, over-the-counter medications, and supplements.
Your insurance card
We will have already verified your benefits, but having it on hand is useful.
Past psychiatric records, if you have them
Not required. We work from what you bring us. Prior diagnoses and treatment history are helpful context.
A quiet, private space
Your appointment is a video call. A well-lit room with a stable internet connection and no interruptions is ideal.
The completed intake forms
We send these through SimplePractice before your appointment. Completing them in advance lets us spend the visit on you, not paperwork.
New Patient Information and Consent
Our full informed consent document, covering appointments, telepsychiatry, fees, prescribing policies, and your rights as a patient. SimplePractice will email this to you to review and sign electronically before your first visit. You can also read it here ahead of time.
QUESTIONS
Things new patients ask us.
No. You can reach out directly. We will verify your insurance and schedule your first appointment without a referral from another provider.
The first visit is longer than a follow-up because it has to be. We take a real history before making any clinical decisions.
That is a good thing. We coordinate with outside therapists with your consent. If you need a therapist and do not have one, we can refer you to someone who works well with our clinical approach.
We are in-network with BCBS Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Baylor Scott & White, and Oscar. We verify your specific benefits before your first visit so you know your copay before you commit to anything.
Telepsychiatry works across Texas. If you have questions about a specific situation, reach out and we can talk through it.
Your current medications and doses, any past psychiatric diagnoses you are aware of, and your insurance card. Past records are helpful if you have them, but not required. We work from what you bring us.
When you're ready.
Most patients start within the week. Reach out and we will take it from there.
