ABOUT
Najah Syed is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, after a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and a degree in biology from the University of North Texas. Her doctoral work focused on improving access to mental health care.
She cares for adults and older adults across a broad range of conditions, including mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Much of her experience is in addiction and recovery and in psychiatric care for veterans, including years on the psychiatric unit at the Dallas VA. That work shapes how she practices: steadily, without judgment, and with attention to the whole person.
She draws on approaches like motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy alongside medication, and she has spent years leading support groups for the families of people in recovery. She takes the time an evaluation actually requires, and she builds treatment plans with patients rather than handing them down.
